What We Do
Six pathways connecting Colorado students to the natural world.
Learning is in Our Nature
Every program is designed to be more than environmental education — it's a mental health intervention wrapped in wonder. From one-day assemblies to year-round bird clubs, we meet schools where they are and build experiences that last a lifetime.
Program 1
School Assemblies & Presentations
Our expert-led assemblies are designed to spark genuine curiosity about migration, local ecosystems, and the incredible world of birds. We bring engaging, age-appropriate content that aligns with Colorado science standards.
- Interactive presentations on bird migration and local species
- Live demonstrations with calls, feathers, and nests
- Grade-level adapted content (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)
- Standards-aligned lesson plans for teacher follow-up
- Take-home activity sheets and bird ID guides
Program 2
Birds of Prey Days
Nothing captures a student's attention like a live hawk, owl, or falcon. Our licensed raptor educators bring these magnificent birds into schools for full-day rotating sessions that combine awe with education.
- Licensed raptor educators with live hawks, owls, and falcons
- Full-day rotating indoor and outdoor sessions
- Introduction to birdwatching, identification, and conservation
- Mental well-being benefits of connecting with nature
- Photo opportunities and guided Q&A sessions
Program 3
Smart Installations
We install Wild Birds Unlimited feeder systems and BirdReel Smart Feeders at schools, allowing students to capture AI-identified photos and videos of visiting species. Technology meets nature in the most engaging way.
- Complete WBU Advanced Pole System with houses and feeders
- BirdReel Smart Feeder with HD camera and AI bird identification
- App configuration for classroom monitors and tablets
- Starter seed supply (No-Mess DP Blend)
- Staff training on maintenance and curriculum integration
Program 4
Student Bird Clubs
Weekly after-school groups give students a consistent, year-round connection to nature. Through identification, journaling, and building friendships around shared discovery, bird clubs become a sanctuary of calm and confidence.
- Weekly after-school meetings led by trained facilitators
- Species identification and nature journaling
- Citizen science contributions via eBird
- Seasonal projects (nest monitoring, migration tracking)
- Year-end celebration with awards and student presentations
Program 5
Field Experiences
Guided walks using professional binoculars and digital tools like eBird and Merlin Bird ID turn students into active citizen scientists. Every outing is an adventure in observation and discovery.
- Guided walks at local parks and open spaces
- Professional binoculars loaned to every student
- Hands-on training with eBird and Merlin Bird ID apps
- Real-time species identification and data collection
- Connection to national citizen science databases
Program 6
Teacher Training
Our professional development workshops equip educators to integrate nature-based learning into existing science and wellness curricula. We don't add to teachers' plates — we give them tools that make their work easier and more engaging.
- Standards-aligned lesson plans (NGSS and Colorado Science Standards)
- Professional development credit hours
- Classroom activity kits and resource libraries
- Ongoing support and coaching from our team
- Annual educator summit with peer networking
